Technician hand open cover photocopier or photocopy to fix paper jam

If you own a printer, you would have come across a stuck HP Printer ink cartridge. You may be frustrated. But do not worry as there are plenty of tips to troubleshoot this issue. If you are interested, read on.

Reset HP Printer

First you need to detach the power cord from the printer while your laptop is turned on. Next, unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet. Next, let your printer cool for 15 seconds, then reconnect the power cord and switch on the printer. Next, load paper into the tray but make sure that the paper is aligned. You are now ready for a test print.

Paper Jam

Sometimes, paper or any material fragment may be trapped, causing restrictions in the ink cartridge’s movement. Firstly, turn on your printer, and wait for the carriage to stop before seeking out for any of such obstructions. Then, remove the obstructions. Carefully move the carriage side to side to search for more paper or material fragments. Once done, you can do a test print.

Clogged Print Head

The printhead may be clogged because of dried up ink. To resolve the issue, remove the printhead and wipe it clean with a cloth. However, do so with caution because the print head is very fragile and can be damaged easily. Once damaged, your printer is as good as worthless. Many printer models now have automatic cleaning procedures. This is a better alternative to manually cleaning the print head.

Dusty Cartridge Chip

Dust collects on the electronic chip on the cartridge and this collected dust can damage the HP cartridge. You should wipe the cartridge and the chip with a dry cloth. If there does not seem to be any dust, use an alcohol to clean the cartridge and chip.

Dust in between the Printer and Cartridge

The dust in between the printer and cartridge can cause ink cartridge error because your printer cannot detect the indicated cartridge. To resolve this, clean the interior of the contact points between the cartridge and printer with a dry cloth. Make sure that no cloth fibers get stuck in between, or else your documents will not print.

Incompatible HP Print Cartridge

Occasionally, the indicated cartridge is placed in the wrong slot. You can resolve this problem by ensuring that the cartridge’s model number aligns with your printer’s model. Once this is checked, you can proceed to install the cartridges.

Damaged or Missing Cartridges

It is common for damaged or missing cartridges to cause printing errors. To resolve this issue, switch off your printer and check the interior of the cartridge for any signs of damage to the pin that connects with the cartridge chip. If there is damage, repair them by attaching the pin to the cartridge chip. Then, clean the cartridge chip with a dry cloth.
